I have a problem with my Abit NF7S and 1700 T'bred. It clocks easily to 200*11 on standard volts, but recently it has been reverting to 100*11 on boot and wont stay at 200 for more than 2 successive boots from cold. Any idea on why this is happening and how I can rectify it? Havent upgraded the bios or anything recently so not sure why I am getting this problem....

TIA

Had a quick look in the bios and all voltages seemed ok, if anything som to the high side. Could it be anything else? Thanks

Replace your CMOS battery

The stock multiplier for your XP1700 is 11x (11x133=1.47GHz)

Often when the board is first installed it reads the multiplier correctly but defaults to an FSB of 100MHz

Thanks for the replies. I have had the combination running smoothly at 200*11 or 11.5 depending on cooling for about 2.5 years.... it is only recently that it has been defaulting back to 100*11. I have a modified bios on there which I have been running for some time. Looks like I will try changing the cmos battery. Any particular one I need? Are some better than others? Any need to knows before ploughing ahead and doing it? Thanks again

Hi!

If you look at the existing CMOS battery you will be able to see what you need to replace it

99% of motherboards use a CR2032 button cell battery - any one will do :)
