FSB question.

Someone I know has brought up something to me that I do not think is 100% correct.

They said that as there RAM FSB is only say 400mhz it reduces the dpeed of the ram on their g-card to this amount. I do not think that is correct I thought the badwidth of the socket the card was in was the more restricting factor. I thought g-cards were more a seperate entity and their RAM ran at their own seperate speed to the FSB off the RAM on the mobo.

Could someone let me know whether I am right or not before I go and make myself look a complete tit saying this :D
 
Videocard RAM doesn't run at the speed of the FSB, it has a separate speed.

Theoretically if you run out of Videocard RAM the game uses system RAM and there can be a slight difference in speed from that but it is minimal at best.
