FSB Wall?

Ok my spec is in sig.

Has anyone with the same mobo / cpu combi and got over 3ghz?

I've hit a wall @ 3040mhz (8 x 380), when i start to get near 390+ fsb it goes from extremley unstable to a non boot.

My memory is on a divider so that not the problem and I've had the V-core up to 1.55 with no affect.

I can only assume its my motherboard not liking the 400fsb.

Memory voltage at 2.1v @ 4.4.4.12 (standard timings) and they are actually underclocked at 760mhz.

So i dont think its the memory.

The V-core was 1.35V stable upto 3040mhz 10rs Orthos.

Sorry bud not sure what you meant about the "know some pairs".

When getting that high of FSB, sometimes adjusting the NB makes it stable. Worth a shot at least.

If its the same as mchb then yes.

ive just upped it to 8 x 390 @ 1.35v but cant get it higher im afraid.

The mobo is a 3.3 revision with the latest F5 bios.

I tried it on a mulit of 7 x 457 = 3200mhz but my memory divider options left me running at nearly 1000mhz so i had to reset the cmos.

Now im at 8 x 390 = 3120mhz and i think thats my limit, just got to try orthos now.
 
Update, I've ran orthos for 1 hr and Vista became unstable so i upped the v-core to 1.35 which resulted in the load temps going up quite a lot (nearly 10 deg).

So for now it looks like im sticking with 8 x 380 = 3040mhz.

For reference i tried 3000mhz on the x 7 multi and it wouldnt post.

Who knows, i can't complain really for the price and a 90% overclock.

Try it with 2 sticks of RAM. 4 sticks is a nightmare for overclocking as the motherboard has to do lots more work. And the GeIL often runs better at lower voltages eg. try 1.9V.

I've only just upgraded to 4gb so i know thats not the problem, and I'm not to sure on lowering the V-dimm but i can try it for now.

I went from 50~52 load to 60~62 load on a Noctua NH-U12F cooler.

The main reason I wanted to get 3.2ghz is so i could run my ram at 1:1.
