Had one for a few months but never tried it in a 'quiet' room, bought a new one recently and had it in my room which has no pcs (got extensions to room downstairs, monitor keyboard and mouse are here, so its 100% silent) building for a client, noticed a high pitched whine, the fans not necessarily noisy but theres a pitch thats noticeable. Thought maybe the unit was faulty, but low and behold the other one i have does the same! Anyone else noticed this? and has anyone modded or changed the fan? thinking of doing this as i might recieve complaints about the noise level!

[edit] forgot to mention specs

2 Plextor DVD-RW units
Core 2 E6600 at stock!
750Gb 7200.10
74Gb Raptor
7800GT
2GB GSkill
Audigy 2 ZS
Intel 975XBX (original bad axe)

Nothing there to really load up the psu i'd say.

My buddy just added one to his rig, when testing it outside the case i'd say the whurring was noticable, inside the case though, i never noticed..... but he does have several 80mm fans in the case.

No whine noise though....

Whacked that noisemaker out and put an Antec Tri cool inside at medium speed. Lots quieter and no whiney pitch :) Had to do away with the grille though as it was rubbing on the fan for some odd reason, got creative with tie wraps to keep any stray wires away :D
