Hi,

I have a decent spec computer with a decent enough graphics card. I am into flight simulation (fsx) and was wondering if i connected my pc to my Samsung 50" 1080p plasma, would it be as good as playing it on a monitor?

Ive been told that it would be terrible on a tv? (if so how can a ps3 and xbox look good on a tv but not a pc game?)

Cheers

Matt

I played fsx on my sony 32" 1080 and it's great, and makes it nice playing on a big screen so can't see you'll have any issues, plus I used pc monitor for dials, maps, etc etc.

O and who told you those lies?

Just a chap i know locally. He said and i quote "it will all be interpolated on a big screen because the refresh rate is poor on plasmas and big lcd's". My refresh rate according to the manual is 0.001 seconds?

Load of tosh...

Refresh rates for PAL and NTSC are 50hz and 60hz standard... most standard monitors ar 60hz...

If you display at 1080p you will be fine!

That's not the refresh rate - whilst plasmas have a high subfield motion frequency (and hence can advertise as being 600hz etc), the input frequency will still be 50/60 hz - 100hz on some models. Just google the difference between refresh rate and subfield motion :)

The only difference you'll see is that the pixels are larger - but seeing as you'll be sat further away from the TV than you sit at your monitor, it'll be fine. Enjoy the big screen! :)

Gaming on a big screen whether the latest plasma or lcd technology is great.

Just as long as the input lag is low, there is no problem.

I use FSX on the cheapest 42" LCD 1080p set I could find at the time and I couldn't envisage going back. Looks great as do the car racing racing games I play. I'm using VGA to as the DVI port is used for a secondary 17" LCD for TeamSpeak/GPS or any other window I need.

Agree with the above, here some pudding for proof:
