FTP - I want to make one folder accessable to someone

I have hosting, and my personal website is on there. But also, me and my friend are starting up a website and it is on the same hosting, but in a different folder.

Is there a way to give him a password so he can only access the folder I want him to, rather than the whole server I have? Because I do not want him touching my website.

Do you have cPanel?

I do have a cPanel, but it is with Dreamhost, so I guess it will be slightly different. - I shall have a search around in there!

I suppose I will be better off contacting them about it maybe.

cPanel is pretty much the same everywhere. I've used it on and off for years and all of them have that FTP section.

edit: unless you mean it's not the actual 'cPanel' software but another control panel.

Just create a new user and both use that. With Dreamhost, each FTP user you create is a full OS-level user, meaning it has its own home directory at /home/<username>/.
