ftp speed seems to be in kilobytes!

I have a wireless setup, my T42 gets a full 54Mbit link but it seems that my MBP is getting in the order of 4KB/sec for ftp to a local networked server.

Infact it's just stalled completely.

Anyone else has this issue?

Well the ftp transfer was to a local server.
I gave up in the end and went copper - 9-12Mbyte/sec..
