In an ideal world:-
- Once a week a program would automatically run which would FTP onto my site, and FTP back all changed files. Or,
- Once a week I would manually run a program which would do the above.

Anyone suggest such an application :)

Just want to do it, or press a button and it just to copy the couple of dozen updated files each week. Not 200 meg of stuff :)

Teach me not to browse the forums whilst drinking :p

I could teach you maybe post a more helpful answer?

So, do I understand then that it can do what I'm asking? I flicked through the app and couldn't see anything (obviously) there? Did I miss sumik?

SyncbackSE is a superb backup/Sync program and in sterling it works out at about £15 per licence.

Strangely, the freeware version only seems to be able to FTP to a destination address and not FTP from a source address....?

The package I mentioned above seems utterly configerable and runs like a dream for me. I can schedule it to run as often as I like, with it copying (FTP'ing) only files that have been updated since the last backup. It will also remove files that have been deleted on the source box.

As far as I know, the source and destination can be FTP, it would seem odd otherwise since it's sync software. I have a full licenced copy at home so I'll check later.

I have Syncback (freeware) syncing with my ftp at home, office and laptop, so i always have an online version of the docs i need.

So that's FTP'ing to somewhere? or FTP'ing from somewhere? :)

As I said, when I went through the (freeware) software, the FTP pane seemed to imply a destination address, and not a source address?

I want to FTP back from a source to my local machine...

Syncing. So from or to depends which doc was edited most recently.

Destination in FTP refers to the destination of your FTP connection not destination of data transfer.

Oh!!! So there's basically a setting to then say is that FTP address defined the source or destination? That sounds a bit poorly defined really? No wonder I missed it :p

Well it makes sense if you read the options. Pay attention to the advanced tab and adjust it to do what you want.

Will do, cheers...

I write software for a living and sometimes it's obvious some screens are just put togethor by programmers, rather than designed for users :)

ps: Actually, I seem to remember a review complaining the software was over complicated?
