Hi,

I do realise that the most likely response to this is probably going to be '6 days to 6 months'
However, I wanted to know if you had experienced anything similar and what kind of timescales you have experienced.

My town (Pop. 5.5kish) under the Super Fast Cymru rollout is in the process of getting FTTC.
I've been waiting, sometimes impatiently for a couple of years for this, and as such I try to keep up with the progress so I can order it the instant it becomes available.

My local cabinet has been stood, and today power has been hooked up.
Am I correct in thinking the next step will be the DSLAM equipment itself?

What timescales do you think I might be looking at ?

Also, once it is finally AO, will I be able to upgrade through Sky immediately...or do Sky also have to install their own equipment at the exchange level?

Thanks in advance.

I would think it entirely variable but similar to you I was watching my local to work cabinets progress and it went from services being brought to it to AO in about 4 weeks. Good luck! I remember the feeling when I logged onto the checker and found it at AO, I'd been looking for years :D

Keep checking the BT Wholesale ADSL checker - it was the first one to update when my cabinet went active. The BT Openreach 'where and when' checker took another week or so.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have been using Roadworks. But I believe I'm at the point now where it probably wont be there.
Everything from a 'works' perspective is done.
The duct have been dug out, laid and re-tarmac'ed. The cabinet has been placed, the power has been connected.

I hope its just DSLAM equipment and testing now..fingers crossed.

I just checked that website and it states
FTTC or FTTP 31st December 2015

It will certainly be before that....I hope.

Speaking from experience, if all of the above has been completed and there are no further issues... For both my parent's and my own house, I was able to order FTTC around 2-4 weeks after.

Ouch, I hope that doesn't happen to me.
I want to start back with youtube/streaming but I gave up after it started taking 8 hours to upload a 15 minute video.
I was hoping to start this month, but looks like that wont happen. Fingers crossed for July.

He should use a free web page watching service that will inform him when the BT Checker has changed.

He needs to use the following URL, replacing "01234567890" with his phone number -

Code:
http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/pls/adsl/ADSLChecker.TelephoneNumberOutput?URL=&SP_NAME=a%20service%20provider&Telno=01234567890&VERSION=29&MS=E&CAP=yes&AEA=N

Then stick that amended URL into a page watching service like - https://www.followthatpage.com/

That will check the BT page for changes once an hour and notify him if there is a change.

Keep an eye out for open reach actually pulling (pushing?) fibre cables through next to the cab. That was the giveaway for my cabinet and it was available to order a few weeks after that.

Yup should be fairly quick now. Pershore only just got theirs enabled and had fibre installed in our factory inside 3 weeks or so. Bt/Sam knows both updated very quickly too.

Came home today and noticed a BT Contractor near the cab. I went to have a chat. He was installing the line cards/UPS. He said it would be commissioned by him today.

So just waiting on BT and whatever testing they do now.

Came home to this today.
