FTTC Farnborough - Date

fair play mate, unfortunately I ordered a vhd box so tied in to another 12 month contract, so no play for bargaining I suppose!

yea i was out of contract so i could just walk so had plenty of leverage :D and i had been out of contract for 3 years too, tempted by there VIVO box :D but i will wait until im out of contract and get it for Free :D hehehe

Hmm.
What exactly did you say when you phoned? I'm probably gonna go with the "I'm moving to Sky" thing but don't want to sound like a complete idiot and end up stumbling on my reasons etc.

I have seen loads of work and new cabinets going up around the area. From Fleet Road to the Farnborough Main Station.

But, just checked the web site and the date has moved from 30th June to 30 September !!!!!!!!!!!! Bloody BT!

That doesn't surprise me :(

Still no sign of a cabinet at the end of Broadhurst, despite one at the end of Trunk Road. It's so frustrating being suck on a crappy connection when the goalposts get moved again. IIRC the original date was 31 March.

LOL just checked our live date was 9th sept but has been put to 1st Dec. But I think this is because BT Openreach are a little pushed with low staff.

They are busy with the fiber install though so as a guess its just to give added fall back if anything goes wrong on the time scale.

Will just keep an eye on it on the ADSL Checker

I lived in Farnborough a few years ago (off Canterbury Road) and had O2 broadband 16 meg package. Was getting 1.2 MBps download speed which at the time I though was rather good :).

Still, doesn't quite compare to 120Mbps ftth in Budapest ;)

Jammy bugger, would be nice for us to get FTTH. Who know at some point in the future BT Openreach may do away with the old POTS boxes and replace the old twisted pair with Fiber. Once they have done all the exchanges and put new cabs in to all the locations they may be able to use fiber for the old twised pairs. So instead of VDSL DSLAM's in the cabs they just put a optical switch in there and we all get FTTH!! Would be nice SOME DAY I suppose LoL, but i would be happy with FTTC getting done first.

Just had our date for the cabs going live put back to 1st of December from 1st Sept!!!!

Looks like we're on the last cabinet to get powered up! Cabinet 93 http://g.co/maps/rvv7u at the end on Ladywood Ave on Fleet Road. It serves the Howard Drive / Lyndsey Close houses. And it's not powered up yet! All the others along Fleet Raod are and seem to be accepting orders from random post code checks.

Oh well, back to waiting and hopefully it will happen before the 31 December date on the checker now.

Regards,

Simpic
