FTTC, now available! Woo! A few questions...

I noticed on roadworks.org the end of august that the cabinet was going in. I discovered it by accident as I was just looking at when some current road works were going to finish as it made getting to work a pain.

I've been checking dslchecker mostly every day since they finished, and finally today it's available! I was just about to go to bed too over an hour or two ago... But immediately got onto various websites.

My mother currently pays for the line rental with BT.

I'm currently with Sky but to upgrade to fibre, I need to move line rental over to them too. If I proceed with the order from Sky does the phone line rental just automatically change over to me? Estimated speeds are 26-35

An alternative could be for me to get a MAC code from Sky and pester mother to order internet through BT but I'd preferably like to keep it in my name and pay for it myself. Estimated speeds are 26-35

And then there's PlusNet, which will be cheaper option for me and also no worries about the line rental. £17.49 per month, they say estimated speed will be 26.

Are there any downsides going over to PlusNet over Sky or BT?

My main use will be for online games and I see that PlusNet have traffic prioritisation, I assume this will not effect much?

I'm looking to order tomorrow(today/later) if possible, do I need to get a MAC code from before I start the process of ordering elsewhere?

I'd see what offers you can get from Sky first. The services are all similar, it's more down to price and service.

If your moving to plusnet from sky then you won't need to get a MAC code from sky, but my experience was moving both phone and BB so you might want to call them and ask before placing that order.

Thanks, I got a MAC code from Sky anyway and I've gone to plusnet. A few more weeks and hopefully faster internets
