Good morning guys, I was looking at changing BB providers as BT want £43 a month for unlimited fibre so went on BT wholesale website to check my line and this was in there:-

WBC FTTP Availability Date FTTP on Demand 330 30 -- Available -- --

Now it says FTTP is available on demand but does this mean that each property has it at the house and it just needs connecting or will they have to run all the cables to the houses?

Can't seem to find a solid answer anywhere.

I think you have to go through a 3rd party provider to get that offering - as above it will likely be £LOL.

I'd have to dig out the paperwork but when my brother looked into it it was something like 4 grand upfront and £160/m or thereabouts.

It depends how it works in each case. In my case it was £7280+VAT but the supplier installed a 1Gb bearer so I qualified for a £3000 business grant so now it was £4000+VAT and it had to pass 7 houses to get to me and for every house that also took up the option there was a £700 discount which 4 of my neighbours took up so it was now £1200+VAT. Then £62/month on a 36 month contract.

I didn’t think that was too bad considering they literally had to dig up the street to install it.

The whole thing was about 4 months from start to go live.

I used Amvia and BT but other agents are available.

Which provider did you use? I am tempted to spend the £250 to get a proper survey done to see if the insane desktop quote I've been given marries up with the survey quote. Houses within a stones throw (new build) get native FTTP and I don't believe it would be anywhere near the £14k +VAT figure I've been given by Cerberus.

As stated I used Amvia to organise the contract, Openreach did the install and my FTTP contract is with BT.

The key is they must install a 1Gbps bearer to qualify for the £3000 government grant.

I have also used Daisy to get leased lines installed for work. For a 300Mpbs uncontended symmetrical connection on a 1Gbps bearer it’s £435+VAT for 36 months to get the free install or £3000 up front install costs and then £400+VAT per month for 12 months.

If you’ve been quoted £14000+VAT then the £435/month would be about the same as just your projected install cost. So something doesn’t stack up. Could it be an F-off price? It’s just not interesting for them so they quote you the moon?
