With these ultra-high settings the game runs on average 30 to 40 FPS and we found this sufficient. It doesn’t stutter and in case that you prefer FPS to quality, you can easily degrade the quality and increase the frame rate to more than 60 FPS. For some reason people believe that you need 60+ FPS to have a nice experience, but the human brain + eye combination can get an illusion of a moving picture at much less, i.e. 24 FPS in movies. European TVs operate at 25FPS, but many gamers claim they need more.

The GPU industry convinced everyone that 120 FPS with 120 Hz refresh rate is necessary, or even 144 FPS at 144 Hz but most people would have difficulties to see the difference between 40FPS and 60 to 120FPS. This believe came with the lack of demanding games where you had a high-end GPU that could render any game at full HD 1920x1080 at highest settings at over 60 FPS. Now in the dawn of 4K monitors, we have four times the pixel to render and 60Hz as a maximum refresh rate. All of a sudden 60Hz and 60FPS would be a minimum to run it synchronised.

Fuad going full retard / shill.

How does he run a tech site? Spewing debunked horsecrap like that, what a joke!

I notice a huge difference in Skyrim between 30 and 60, it's like someone pulling the game back on a slight elastic band :p

But yeh every PC gamer can see the difference over 60

I'm tired of this "enough" thing. It's like a car manufacturer building a car out of paper and then saying it doesn't matter that it falls apart at 80mph, because 70 is "enough".

24/30 fps targets are because of lazy devs and tight publishers; nothing more, nothing less. It's far cheaper to tell people that 30fps is 'fine' rather than actually spend time optimizing the game. They even get fanboy zealots regurgitating the same marketing crap word for word too.

I can't believe any informed, semi intelligent person would regurgitate that crap in this day and age, has to be either attention seeking or actual stupidity.

Personally I can't tell the difference between 120Hz and 144Hz but the difference between 60fps and 120fps (or Hz) is like night and day and once your used to it a far more comfortable even if not essential experience.

Legitimate question: if 30fps is 'enough', why did Youtube bother to implement the new 60fps video features? I wonder if these people could watch a regular and a 60fps Youtube video side-by-side and say with a straight face they genuinely couldn't see the difference?

These reviewers. They all exist to make money one way or another, just speculating here... Ubisoft spend an awful lot on promoting their games, they have also been know to try and push the acceptance of low Frame Rates and looking like idiots in the process, presumably because thier games generally run like crap and get worse if the Frame Rates aren't capped.

One of the key difference that is often missed in discussions on this topic is that there is a difference between what is required to fool the eye in a non-interactive sequence and what is required to create a good feeling experience when your able to interact with a moving scene.

Did alittle bit of research on the site.

Its plain stupidity as Ubisoft wouldn't pay such a low trafficked site to do damage control.

Or maybe FUD so far are the only ones to agree to Ubisoft's request. with the rest not wanting to touch it through very wise fears of looking like a complete idiot.

Murdered soul suspect with vsync will lock to 30 FPS, I noticed straight away and I don't use fps counters anymore

I wqtch halo mcc and I see every dip.

Gaming at 30 FPS is hell.

I've edited my post seems they get a fair amount of traffic afterall, I just crossreferenced my research.

So the difference between 15 and 30fps is bigger than the difference between 60 and 120 and it's around that mark, 120, where while it's likely better it's gotten to a point it's basically good enough.

Frame rate and hz can sometimes be used interchangeably sometimes not, I think frame rate is important but 60fps on a 120hz screen is way better than on a 60hz screen. Smoother, but really the electronics side of the screen is simply designed to give more responsiveness, the screens have significantly less blur as they pixels are simply faster on faster screens. Frame rate compounds the effect with high hz as spinning around in a circle cut into 120 segments rather than 30 will offer a vastly smoother experience.

Ubisoft are retards and Faud has always basically been a moron willing to spout whatever press release he gets.

Too many people seem simply unaware that much of the tech site industry is companies PR sending a press release to lots of sites and most of those sites just regurgitate it. Like or dislike Charlie, he goes digging for stories, Faud reposts whatever gets sent to his inbox and 95% of tech sites do the same. Very few do journalism. Most guys at his level do likely get some incentives because he does some reviews here and there, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a few gfx card or two here and there, a couple ad buys from Nvidia maybe, and they have over the years certainly been pro Nvidia and more willing than not to regurgitate this kind of tripe they have done from Ubisoft.

One thing I have noticed is they have been baiting like crazy with the gamergate / men are evil / feminazi crap lately. Must be desperate for clicks, maybe they're about to go under.
