Fuji X Series

Bought the XT10 and the standard lens, and I am quite surprised how sharp the 16-50MM II is TBH.
I'm not. Both of them were also particularly good at starburst. From my experience I have found the Samyang 12mm to be of similar ilk in this regard

Umm, I think he is saying that he is not surprised how good it is, ie: he was agreeing with you.

Oops,sorry my second coffee hasn't kicked in - apologies,ethan.

Is the 55-230MM any good at all?

Now,what would be a good half leather case(or PU-leather case) for one??

Looked at the Fuji one and its like £70 which is a tad expensive, lol.

Any ideas on any particular leather straps? Normally use Optech ones but I think it would not fit well with the camera.

YESSSSSSS finally it's arrived! :D

I went in and forced the place I bought it from to contact the supplier and ask them what the chuff was going on with the lack of stock where I live, and lo and behold the supplier had one unit which they agreed to send. S after two months plus of waiting, the X-T2 is finally mine! :o

Was tempted to cancel my order, but for the equivalent of £1360 including the 18-55mm it was worth the wait. Came to around £1650 including battery grip and 2x 64GV Lexar 2000x cards.

Now to start playing... :)

Enjoy it's a great camera .I opted not to get the grip as it looked cumbersome ,what do you think of it handling wise with it on .?

I quite like it .... doesn't feel too bulky or heavy, in my opinion. That said, I only really use it if I'm going to be shooting action for an extended period, or portraiture where the ergonomics of having a vertical grip is useful.

When the grip is on it feels fine... yeah it's heavier but that's what two extra batteries give you, in addition to a full days battery life! Also being able to charge two batteries in it is pretty cool.

Basically, I think it's pretty essential if you are doing serious amateur or professional work for any extended periods of time such as events etc.

The extended battery life is a bonus i guess as having to carry 4 extra batteries and swapping is a pain sometimes . Not really interested in the boost mode as if i know im shooting sports i will use my 7d mkii as i find it gets more in focus shots and has better tele lenses at present than the fuji .

I don't mind carrying and swapping batteries, they weight nothing in your pockets, but the chance that you may miss a shot due to changing batteries means it's not always practical to do so.

I do not have multiple camera systems, so will rely 100% on Fuji for all my needs. It seems to have very good continuous autofocus when combined with the right lenses, backed up by a lot of sports shots.

Oh no doubt the xt2 is blazing fast and I love mine but I find the 7d mk ii gets more in focus shots than the Fuji .

I just went to Park Cameras in town, still trying to toss up between going for a Nikon D3400 or Fuji X-T10 (I already have Nikon gear). They told me the T10 and E2 are now discontinued.. Obviously we'll get the new versions next year but any idea how much the X-T20 may be?

I'd be stretching to a T10 to start with :(

Focus accuracy of the X-T2 is superb, right up there with the best of the action oriented cameras eg. But, you really have to practice at using the various AF settings to get the most out of it. For sports, aircraft, sprinting dogs etc I'm managing to get approx. 90% hit rate. When I first got the X-T2 my hit rate was a bit lower than that ... perhaps 75-80%.

ps. I should add that the increased focus accuracy / hit rate is with the vertical grip and boost mode enabled.

Got the XT10 during double cashback last week which meant it came to around £340.

It really is a great camera - even with the normal cashback it is worth it.

Managed to get a Deadcameras strap to so it looks the part now:

Edit!!

I am not sure if the new XA3 and XA10 are considered the replacements for the XT10 at the current USD price.

Hmm, I am really deciding whether to buy the 23mm 1.4 or not... seems like such an optically amazing lens and yet the reported slow focus speed and audible noise, even though I have never heard it in person, is slightly putting me off.

Thoughts? :)

EDIT - Great comparison vs the 23mm f2 here...

Go to 6:00, the AF noise of the 1.4 is significant!
