Is it worth £600? reason i ask is I am in the situation of getting fed up of lugging lenses and equipment around up mountains etc and always having to keep my eye on my stuff when placed in the car boot if sitting in a cafee. The fuji looks like an all-in-one which i could quite easily and quite happily carry wherever I go without having to worry about weight etc. Thanks

Well the first thing that jumps out at me is it looks about the same size as a small DSLR body and weights nearly 1kg. If you're scaling down I'd rather just get a micro four thirds camera which is smaller, lighter and has a larger sensor. The only thing it will really lack is the insane zoom.

The 1kg is not a problem when compared to my current kit weighing in at between 20 and 25lb. It seems to match my Sony alpha 550 in every other respect: 7fps with the option of using the zoom in video which isn't supported in this particular model of Sony.

Struggling to find reviews? Is this even out yet?

Price wise (RRP £600?) its going to have to be a hell of a camera (and I rate cameras by picture quality not the number of daft gadgets they have shoe-horned into it) to convince people its worth the premium over the likes of the Canon SX 40 which can be had for half the price.

I would first wait for reviews from some of the more well known sites before putting £600 down on any camera. They certainly seem to be aiming for a very niche market but near dslr quality without the huge bag would be very tempting.

I think it is going to get rave reviews (first to eat my hat if it doesn't). The auto focus is fast and low light photography is very good from some of the pictures Ive seen from people using it in Canada etc. Macro is down to 1cm and the full zoom of 1200mm+ is useable in movie mode as well. I'll go and test one this week.

found a review here: http://www.neocamera.com/camera/fuji/xs1/review where it received excellent.
