hi all

first time posting so be gentle.i appoligise for my spelling and grammer im dylexic and just cand write propperly.
right i got this pc from work a couple of years ago and all the parts in it so its cost me nothing other then the gpu at the time running os on an ssd. storage on normal hdds its been fine all this time no problems other then the psu. which at the time i got around by putting a 500w server psu in it mainly as i have a lot of storage internally so didnt want to be out of juce.
im running a gtx 1050 ti which has done its job for what i need but as with typical fujitsu psu 16 pin no extra psu cable for a bigger gpu connector that is problem number 1 i want to upgrade the psu or wire in a cable to run a better gpu.
i have a unsused tx1320 server that has 2 600w hot plug psus in it with the cage and gubbins but again no extra cable for gpu. any ideas on that or anyone know of a psu that has extra cableing that would fit? did think about an atx adapter but the standby votage is wrong 11v for fujisu if i remeber correctly or something like that that stopped standard atx psus from running and back at work a mate had to wire in an extra psu for that line and drop the voltage to get it running. id rather not do that.

problem 2. the cpu again nothing wrong with it but its 6th gen and with the new windows coming out i really dont want to buy a whole new pc for it im kinda attached to this one lol. so i need to know what cpu can i put in this thing. iv looked and to be honest the cpu upgrading just goes over my head so would you know what ones are compatable to get. if you could give me a list i would be greatfull please.
chipset intel q170 i belive. socket lga1151

im not after a mega gaming pc but would like to upgrade this one so its going for a bit more longer with the new windows and better games that are coming out.
so any help would be appreciated.

below are all the specs i could pull up to help.

Does the 2 server psus have any 4 pin molex connectors as you could get a 4 pin molex to a 6 pin pcie cable , although not ideal.

unfortunatly not the cage is again a 16 pin which is annoying can i splice in to the 16 pin and add a molex connector i can do that easy enough if i know the pin out i need? its been a while since i did any work on a pc i used to fix electronics for a living but for the life of me cant remember half of it.

I have no idea just be careful , 4 pin molex is only rated a 54w, 6 pin pcie is 75w and 8 pin at 150w max.

Do your research.

yes indeed will have a dig about on that again aside from that what about the cpu i honestly cant figure out what one is compatable ideally 8th gen or higher any idea?

i can modify it no problem already did to fit the 500w server psu i stucjk in ther that is fairly large . but its adapting the atx socket to the 16 pin thats the problem if i can get that figured out then ill do it fine i know i have to drop the standby voltage to 11v with a diode but im lost with the pin outs need a good wireing drawing so i can adapt it. asthetics do not bother me as long as its functional im happy my last pc i built was a optiplex 790 smalll form factor that i stuck in a standard atx case with a massive psu and extra ports looked like something from the crytstal maze coputer section lol but woked like a charm.

There isn't any value in changing the CPU as its already one of the best that can be used on that platform.

thats what i saw but was wondering with the new gens that have come out if there was an i7 that would fit it so that i didnt have to worry about windows 11 issues as from what iv read it wont support 6th gen and everything els in my sytem reports as compatable just the cpu?

failing all of that a new mobo that is atx that will fit my ram so can then get a atx psu and new cpu but i was hoping to avoid that as might as well just buy a new pc?

just the cpu then if i cant fit a newer gen in there thtas compatable then ill have to eather stick with windows 10 or buy a new rig for 11.

While some server PCs might use pretty standard PSUs, many server PSUs are incompatible with desktop PCs with multiple differences.
Usually at least connectors and available voltages are different.

And those big brand/supermarket PCs are often designed for one time use and very unupgradable using not desktop standard parts.
In general motherboard support is limited with crippled BIOS containing only minimal settings being common.

Though in this case standard consumer retail sale motherboard wouldn't make any difference to lack of upgradability:
Courtesy of Intel's greed there are three different sockets for same rebranded architecture CPUs.
("10th" gen is literally fourth rebranding of 6th gen Skylake)
And without hacked BIOS no LGA1151 board will take any CPU which would be anykind upgrade from low end quad core.
For comparison consoles have 8 core CPU with 7 cores dedicated exclusively for the game.
