Hey

after some great help on the forum i have finally ordered the sad card and cable and its arrived

i have ordered the following LSI SAS 9210-8i 8-port 6Gb/s PCIe HBA RAID SATA Controller card= 9211-8I 9220-8I

i have an issue that the server i am installing it in to. The server is a MX1310 M1 and I cant for the life of me get the SAS card working (well the card works for showing the drives in proxmox but when i try to access the config on bootup to access the raid config i dont get any prompts to access it, plugged in to a desktop pc to test and the config came up (Ctrl H).

so far I have tried the latest bios version. making sure the bios is on legacy not UEFI but nothing comes up asking to enter the card.

if i enable raid on the motherboard i get this

but that's just for the drives that are plugged in to the board not the sas card.

I am not sure if the Mega raid software is the onboard and the LSI sata raid found at PCI bus is the sas card?

Any ideas ?
Thanks all for reading

the 2 cards i have both flashed to i think v21 bios in it mode. although i dont use sas drives as main drives any more but keep them around to hold some backups. sas card is hooked up to removeable drive bay caddies so can hot swap drives. good having sas support but these days its uses are dying out for me. i dont buy sas drives anymore and iv got probably 5 left for backing up stuff on.

You can use SATA drives on it too, just fyi. I have an LSI 3008 hooked up to an external SAS backplane full of SATA drives. I think you can’t mix and match tho.

Have you an option to disable CSM (Compatibility Support Module)? I had a similar issue and seem to remember this being the cuiprit.
