I have the above model laptop and been having trouble with the battery for almost six months now. The battery no longer seems to hold a charge. When not plugged in the battery will boot up to windows xp loading screen the switch off. However, the same thing happens when I take the battery out and it is just plugged into the AC. Furthermore, when I have lots of apps open at once the battery warning keeps flicking on and off from using battery (@ 2%) to AC. what the heck is wrong? Surely it should just work if it is plugged into the mains and the battery is unplugged? I don't travel with it so if I could just get rid of the annoying beep then it would be perfect!

Also, I can boot into the bios fine with the battery unplugged and leave it there for hours. Either it is a windows issue (can I turn off trying to use the battery?) or the bios doesn't draw enough power to make the laptop turn off. The latter doesn't make sense though as there is no battery anyway so that should be irrelevant?!

sound like the ac adapter is on the blink when its drawing too much current its cutting out, is it the right one for the unit does the amps match whats on the label under the laptop, should be 3.42 or there abouts, i would try and borrow one and do some testing before you buy another one though.
