First port of call would be to reinstall GPU drivers.

As above but you could also
disable HDR if enabled.
Check 8bit10bit ,RGB etc settings are set correct and not too high for your cable/display
Check/swap the hdmi/DP cable to test.

thought this was a joke post at first if re-installing drivers solved it, then I;m guessing you had some sort of nVidia filter applied

Guys... me again.

I am getting the same weird overlay! I'm on ATI for what it is worth.

I'll reinstall drivers but it seems like I must be mashing a hot key inadvertently or something?
