Full Specs For The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Are Out

Purely depends on the price and performance relative to a 980 Ti for me. If the performance is the same but it's more expensive than a 980 Ti, why would you buy it over that card? I'm hoping it's the other way around. Slightly more performance but ultimately cheaper than a 980 Ti.

I reckon it'll trade blows like the 970 vs 780 Ti.

Is it a bridge between the 970 and the 1080? Selling itself on the best budget VR card with standard high level graphics for this gen? Feeling a bit deflated after the hype with expectations of pricing to rip us off over the release window for both 1080 and 1070.

Even if the memory had 1GB of the 8GB "gimped", leaving users with 7GB of fast RAM, it would still be plenty. There aren't any 980Ti owners panicking about "only" having 6GB. After the embarrassment of the 970 issue, it seems highly unlikely nVidia would repeat the mistake.

If reference spec performance is between 980 and 980Ti levels then they've done their job I think. Especially considering improvements from 3rd party board manufacturers.

TBH i could sell 980ti and grab 1070 for extra VR related thing that come with it !!!! If its 1:1 fast

everyone has different views on whats acceptable performance.some people i know could play at 30 fps and be solid.people like me are not happy unless its 60 fps minimum.

the price is key on this card.

if its 980ti performance and priced well will sell very well.

Given the 1070 has 3/4s of the SMXs from the 1080, if some of the RAM has higher access times, it would be the last 2GB of RAM not 1. We will find out soon though.

My gut feeling is that this card will be somewhere between a 980 and 980Ti in performance, maybe trading blows with the Ti in some areas.

I agree. But definitely the 1070 will be faster in VR than a 980ti plus faster in dx12 games............

Two 1070's for the same price as one 1080 might be the way forward for me this time.........

If it's priced close to the 970 it'll be a good proposition. I'd expect it to be £400+ though given the price of the 1080. Just can't see Nvidia having a £300 gap between the two.

D3K try Elite with Supersampling and come back. Makes my 980ti get to 70c and thats with AIO cooler and fan at 100% :D ofc running max clocks all the time :D

Yeah that's an option I'm considering.

1 1080 is out of the question for the limited gains I'll get at 1440p over my 970s. 2 1080s would be sweet overkill, but far too much money. 2 1070s could be the answer if they're not completely gimped.

Even if the 1070 effective VRAM limit is 6GB, if they perform close to a 980Ti, I'll get nearly twice my current performance using a pair of them.

But what's the price going to be? I'm certain a pair will cost more than a 1080, but should easily outperform one at 1440p.

Once everything settles a 1070 should start at £310 each compared to a 1080 starting at £490.

Actually prices will of course vary depending on make.

I suspect AIB will end up being £350ish for the 1070 and £550ish for the 1080.

So a pair of 1070 will cost £150 more than a single 1080 but obviously when SLI works, their performance will be far in excess of a 1080 and even when they don't you will have similar 980ti performance.
