Full test query?

Well I passed my CBT around 3 weeks agow and I have been out on my shadow 125 since =D Done around 600 miles already haha but it seems to be lacking abit in power and its sounds like its straining abit at at 50-60 :( plus I cant get the bloody L-Plates to stay on :-S. So I want to do my full test to get it overwith and maybe progress to its bigger brother with a restrictor kit =D . I've been doing some online hazard perception tests and theory tests and im feeling failry confident and im going to take my theory at the beginning of next week. What im thinking about is just going for my mod 1 without getting any training for it because it seems quite simple apart from the swerve part plus I've had past experence on off road bikes ect... and then maybe doing one or two hours of trainning before I go for my mod to to freshen me up for my mod 2, what do you guys think ? :-/ ( I'm 17 btw =P )
 
Good luck to you - I remember the "Hmmm, 125s - not that powerful" itch when I was pootling around on a CBF125. :D

What I will say is that the Mod 1 looks easy, because it is easy. But that doesn't mean that you can waltz in and do it correctly first time. When I did mine, we watched quite a few, and it was immediately obvious who had had some training and who had just decided that they could do it because it looked easy. There were a couple of failures that we saw, and they were both guys who obviously hadn't had any specific Mod 1 training - both on really simple stupid things iirc.

If you're short on cash, I'd say invest it in Mod 1 training as a priority. As for Mod 2, it's easier to pass without training given enough confidence and experience. However, you're only 17, so you don't have that much experience on the roads yet, so the chances are if you do mod2 without training, you'll slip up on some little thing and fail because of it.

I spent 3 years driving cars + 1 year on a 125 before doing my DAS - the training was invaluable and I wouldn't have passed first time without it. If you try and cut corners, you'll just end up getting frustrated + wasting time / money on re-takes.
 
Train for your Module 1. The advice of professionals is worth it's weight in gold not just for the Mod1 test but also your riding in general.

Training for the Mod2 is again worth it however I'd say isn't massively necessary providing your positioning and riding is up to a good standard. Though you won't know it is unless you either pass, fail or are told so by an instructor.
