running out of space in my mid tower Hp case, only has a cage for 2 hard drives and limited to what graphics cards to upgrade with let alone duel cards or power unit sizes,a full tower will address these issues and allow for future upgrades, thing is without redesigning our furniture and layout the only place for it is on dressing table which is narrow, the hp midi tower already ovehangs by a couple of cm,but its feet are still on the table, just the front casing overhangs,My question Is is there a case out there which is similar in length(front to back) but makes up for it in width and esp height, prehaps a motherboard can be put in sideways in order for graphics cards to spread top to bottom rather than across? anyhelp in locating such an item to address those issues or recommend a good diy shelf unit or any other bright ideas from someone confronted with the same space issues.thanks

This should really be in the cases forum, but never mind :)

From my own experience of HP mid tower cases they're actually quite small and you could probably get a 'mid' tower case that could fit everything you're looking for.

Couple of key questions though.

Space available and budget?

Depending on your budget really and what you want out of it....

I'd say you're probably looking at:
Antec 100
Coolermaster 690ii Lite
Fractal Design r3

HP cases are just generally badly made so you can't fit much in xD

cheers for reply as im more or less at a brick wall budget is not so much issue ill just spend on the case and delay any other upgrades so say up to £200,as its in me sons bedroom he loves his games so slowely upgrading to top notch gaming level, duel cards ect, plus hard drive space would be the most important, got no problems with building upwards in height or a bit of width its just the length overhanging the table,as its in the corner there is no where to put it on the floor, yeah they do seem to be smaller than most midi towers i have seen, cheers#

sure cheers 400mm in length,108 mm width,390mm height, thought prehaps a supporting board underneath drilled in to the desk overhanging out as a last resort lol

Just to add prehaps there is a bracket out there which can be screwed into desks to support the overhang although most of a full tower will be on the desk the weight of the hard drives normaly at the front just needs to be supported?

yep was a typo error goin to fast 180mm is correct width, seems my best option is to find some sort of brackets to support which i can screw in to the sides of the case, alternately a board extending out, thanks guys
