Fun little Easter Eggs in WoW

Check you have plenty of virtual memory left (is page file full?)

That error message is all but helpful.. it doesn't tell you what the error was, only what stage the install was at. *shakes fist at lowsy developers*

Try using another cd drive to install them if you can.

Im installing it from the cd's onto a friends laptop, the plan is to then network it and copy the folder onto my harddrive.
Also the CD version of the game I have is from the initial launch of the game, how much in the way of patches is there gonna be to DL before it lets me in?

VM is fine, one thing I notice though is that when the installer hangs it puts my dual core CPU at 50%, so its maxing one of the cores. Im thinking all my problems are from it being installed onto a dual core machine. Does WoW have issues with dual core, surely not...

I may be wrong but can't you tell it to run on a single core only, might help.

Also are your dual core drivers up to date?

You're looking at almost another GB in patches.

I'd highly recommend you use a mirror and not the blizzard patcher.

I just tried that, hangs at the same place.
It has just finished installing onto a laptop and is now being copied to my HD, so far so good. Slow connection though, gonna take about 2 hours to copy the folder over.
All I gotta do then is patch it (thanks for the mirror links) and away we go :p

You watch something go wrong and I never get it to patch :o

Running version 1.1.2 dated Dec 6 2004 :(

It'll be worth it when you get the game running, just remember to play as the horde and you'll be fine ;) don't want you turning into another alliance wimp after all this trouble do we? or else i may have to introduce you to my axes :p

I got it installed and running, I have also downloaded a patch 1.12 >> 2.01 however inside the zip file I had only 2 files called wow-partial1.MPQ and wow-partial2.MPQ, does anyone know how I apply the patch.

I have tried google and it says to run updater.exe from inside the WoW folder but I have no such file. No such file came with the patch either.

Tried that but it still starts the auto patcher from version 1.12. I'll just leave the auto patcher running overnight. Speed seems to top out at 32kb/s so gonna be awhile.
Thanks for help all, I would have just gave up long ago if left to my own devices.

looks to me as though the download didn't finish properly, fileplanet have the whole set and are fairly reliable when the queues arn't too bad.
