Functional MP3 players

Are these still a thing? Sorry, I know they exist to buy, but I'm wondering how 'good' they are now. Brands are all alien to me when I look what's around.

We want something cheap and cheerful to allow our son to listen to podcasts and calming music. Don't want to go down the route of getting a phone, but then I guess this would permit better (or even any) streaming options.

Completely at sea here actually - it's a market I know nothing about!!

You can still get some branded ones from Sandisk https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Clip-Jam-8GB-Player/dp/B08YFFLJPZ who have made variants of the Clip for years - I've had a couple of the earlier models, no issues

Still got mine and battery life is excellent just remember to select US when setting up so the volume limiter isnt set on

I assume that's just local media play, yes? No streaming?

I'm not sure how easy it is to acquire music to play these days outside of YouTube and Spotify etc. hahaha how times and habits change!!

I know a couple of sound engineers who have Surfans players. They use flac rather then MP3s, and us them for testing out PA systems.
