Just seen this article on BBC news - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gp04kqzdeo

So I thought I would ask people in here - If you came across a funeral cortege/procession, would you stop to allow the following cars to stay behind the hearse as 1 "unit" or would you carry on, splitting up the cortege (if they are pulling out of a junction etc I mean)??

Personally, I stop and allow the following cortege to remain in the cortege.

I always wait for them to pass, but have noticed scumbags pushing in and even overtaking on occasion (we have a crem a couple of miles away)

They're dead, who cares? Meanwhile, if I don't push in, that's like a whole 'nuther three cars I'll have to wait behind in the drive-thru queue, innit......!!

I'm of the opinion that no-one actually cares about anything these days, unless you're an influencer with at least 400k followers and a giveaway code in the description.

Seen plenty of people overtake them. TBH if your first post-alive act is to block up half the town's traffic, you probably aren't going to get respect from everyone.

nail on head......no one gives a flying **** for their fellow man/woman any more. it's quite evident with even the most cursory of glances at society. it's all me me me me me........and it's only going to get worse as that mindset is fuelled by social media.

Been in a few corteges over the years, usually far back, and the number of times the hearse emerged from a junction then traffic just waited until we all got out (even *not* jumping red lights ;) ) restored a little faith in humanity.

Obviously wait. I initially made a "how do u tell which cars are which" post but then reread the OP and my silly imagined scenario of a roundabout just isn't relevant.

I would stop, however i can understand people getting frustrated. At my mums funeral last year, we asked the funeral director to drive past the local pub that my mum frequented for 50+yrs enroute to the church. I was a bit stunned when she (the funeral director, not my mum!....) got out and proceeded to walk in front of the hearse the half mile down the road to the pub, then carried on walking all the way up to the motorway roundabout (M56 J10), around it and back past the pub again. The traffic snarl up was horrendous! I've put a comment in my will that any funeral cortege should not involve anyone walking in front of the bloody hearse! :)

I always stop but it's not always clear where the end of the cortege is, so if you want a cortege to stay together at something like a big roundabout then surely the sensible thing is to have someone hold the traffic.

Just invites the sort of people who would overtake or pull out in the middle of them to get out and start having a pop.

I attended a friends funeral before who was apart of a 1% MC, someone tried to barge their way in even with roads being blocked by said MC, around 250 bikers iirc.

Wouldn’t have wanted to be that car, yes I’m sure what the MC were doing wasn’t legal but the delay would have been around 2-3mins. Is it really worth the agro for what is basically an add break.
