A friend of mine went to a computer fair in London.
It cost £20 to get in... but apparently the savings were fantastic.
So... he bought a new cpu/mobo/memory bundle, and some other bits.
He got home and decided to test the bundle without putting it in his
case properly, so he set the mobo and bits up ON TOP of his old case......
BANG it went.
Well, he spent extra money getting a train back to london the next day,
(the computer fair was there for 3 days), he blagged his way in for free,
and he got new replacements.
Jammy so-and-so, I would say

In my experience the fair's are no better then buying online, but if you compare them to the local PC store the prices do look great.

Only thing i personally disliked was the lack of actual high end hardware.... seemed to be a lot of cheapo brands and mid-level hardware.

Buying online is still better in my opinion, plus you can read up on the products, where as at the fair it's like being in a store, the guy behind the stall at the fair will always say all the hardware is top notch and the best.

At least that's been my experience....

I think he answered that in the OP. Having metal touching the underside of the motherboard generally isn't a good idea.

Well yes... not many people have plastic or paper cases... :p

lol I dunno why i was thinking that most cases have a plastic shell. I withdraw my silly statements in embarrassment.
