Furious hard drive activity slows down CoD4 MP

Hi all

When I play CoD4 online multiplayer (Vista Ultimate x64), after a few minutes I start to get some intermittent but annoying stuttering which causes the sound to stutter and the image to freeze. In fact it seems more likely to happen when there's an airstrike or chopper or something.

Has anyone else experienced this or know what the problem could be?
 
Vista likes to use HDD a lot have you turned Indexing off. ? :)

Basically if you have no need to search for files then it not really worth it.
 
Possible virus guard related - what AV do you have?

Also may want to try and exclue the COD4 installation directory from your AV (or disable it as it could be a virus scan elsewhere) and test.

I've had no problems at all with CoD4 after moving to Vista 64 from XP32, I've still got indexing on I think as well.
 
Could just be punkbuster, checking your files etc, one of the reasons i hate the damn thing :( BF2 is a jitter fest online for the first 10 minutes or so because of it.
