Exactly how are these cards cooler than the 4000 series? I've never seen my 4890s go above 50C under load and they idle at 30-40C

Derail the thread? I commented on something you posted. I didn't realise that wasn't how forums worked, sorry.

Well maybe if you would have said that score is quite low or the score is average , and then posted your querey i wouldnt be bothered but as you just answered my question with a question about temp and your gfx card not the benchmark score its kinda going off topic in my eyes ...

cheers .

Well i don't actually know much about furmark or what scores you should be getting. If the score is low for the card and you're getting such high temperatures i'd say you've got a duff card.

Though, like i said, i don't actually know anything about it.

Never go above 50C load, now that's BS if I have ever heard it.

Anyway ATI can detect furmark in the drivers (even if you rename the exe) so I would run 3dmark vantage and then have a look at your max.

That is a bit high at stock though. At 1000/1400 1.24v with the blower style cooler I reach 79C.

u must be joking right never go above 50 deg under load try turning it on then. my 4870 puts out 81 degs at 100% load unless your a moron and have your fan on 100% all the time

Well obviously you know about the temperatures i get from my cards better than i do. Cheers for the info, I mean having owned a 4870 you must know everything about my 4890s and can tell me i'm bull****ting.

4870 and 4890 are pretty much the same card though :p

I had a 4870 and it got hotter than 50deg playing games.

Fine. I don't doubt that's true but he's basically either calling me a liar or a moron. I'm neither of which, i don't see why i'd make this up.

Under load i set the fan at 50% and it doesn't ever go over 50C. Even when i'm playing Crysis on very high.

Nah, XFX. It doesn't have the standard cooler though, that's probably got a lot to do with it. It's this card:

go run furmark at high res and see what temp it puts out then 50 or less and i would say it could have a faulty sensor they should be running high 60's to mid 70's under full load
