Hi there, I am looking at getting a Macbook (the middle entry one) and as I'm a student going into the 3rd year of my degree wondering what the student discounts are?
I can see the price on the Apple store for Education which is cheaper than the normal Apple store at £779 but there is a further link for those in "Further Education" which it tells me can only be accessed from my campus, does anyone know what further discount this provides on the model I'm after? And how do I qualify for it?

Its usually ABOUT the same as the normal EX vat price. To get the discount you need to order it online from the campus, alternatively from a store your student id should be sufficient.

You can also phone up and order with FE discount, and also if your uni has a VPN or proxy you can connect to, you can do it through that.

Kind regards to Daniel75 as I stole this picture from my old thread:

was going to start a new thread but found this one..

i want to get a Mac Book Pro for university, and i want to get it before i go.. as above - you need to access the site on apple through the network. which i cant do.

First question, can i buy it before i go to university ?

secondly,

Is anyone able to shed some light on what the prices will be ?

looking at the 2.2 and 2.4 ghz model, is the .2 extra ghz worth the price increase ?

also im not sure what i would pick between glossy and non glossy screen ?

Only benchmarks are going to show a difference between the two processors.

As for glossy vs. matte screen, it put me off at first, but I have a glossy screen on my MacBook and its fine. However, if I had to recommend one over the other, I'd go for the matte to play it safe.

See if you can get to an Apple store and see the glossy screens in action.

Go for a Glossy is always my recommendation.

I used to go matte just to play it safe, but once you've seen a glossy MBP then it looks so much nicer :)

Yep you can get your HE discount before you go to uni, just drop into an Apple Store with your UCAS acceptance letter, or uni acceptance letter. Alternatively you can ring up and buy it over the phone, they dont usually check too much over the phone.

just make sure they give you the correct discount, over the phone I couldn't get the salesgirl to give me the HE discount, she kept saying that the FE prices were as low as they got...
