Ello gents,

As posted a little while back I have my Q9550 (on asus p5q-e) running at 3.4ghz (8.5x400fsb) on 1.15v (prime stable for 8+ hours).

My question is this: If i start pushing up the fsb more now, is it safe to be clocking the memory higher? So if the ram is rated to 1066 (geil black dragon) how much legroom have i got around that? If i shouldnt take it over 1066, will i have better performance gains with higher processor clock and lower ram speed (currently have it at 1066mhz on the 400 strap).

Thanks

Geil BD is pretty good, push it some more and run OCCT for stability. 1.15v is nothing, up it more but keep temps as low as poss.

Temps are decent, idle at 30-35 max (Its 35 right now and as high as its ever been due to ridiculous ambient temperature - A small room with two pc's a hdtv, 24 inch monitor and an xbox 360 running is evil :) Load doesnt get past 50.

Hi,

I have the same chip on an Asus P5q-deluxe, using ocz 1066 ram. You have a good chip there. :D Mine is at the same speed currently (8.5x400) and runs a fair bit hotter (68/65/61/69c with small FFT test in prime95) and needs 1.225v for core 1 to be stable at this speed.

Just wondering - what cooler are you using, and what VID does core temp report for your chip?
