Fury X to Nvidia with freesync

Currently have a fury x with a Benq freesync monitor

If I go NVidia which is most likely is there anything I need to enable or disable so that my freesync monitor will work with my NVidia card (Probably 1080/1080ti)

Nope, it will work just fine, albeit without the smoothness of Adaptive Sync.

It'll just work like a standard monitor, you'll loose variable refresh.

Last year did tried that move, while having an XL2730Z and Nano @ 1100/550. Bought a 1080, watercooled it and overclocked it to 2190 core. However the loss of freesync and the terrible DX12 performance on TW Warhammer, making the whole game looking like a slideshow, made me sell the card (for profit due to good proven OC), sell the Nano also and bought a FuryX. Gaining back Freesync and 10%+ higher fps over the nano, didn't made me miss the 1080.

Tbh if you have OCed your FuryX to 1190/600 (with the UEFI bios), the Vega 64 isn't that big upgrade, neither is the GTX1080. You should be looking for a good 1080Ti to keep the FPS above 90 constantly at your resolution, to not to feel the lack of Freesync.

Just use Adaptive Vsync. It's better than a kick up the jacksie.

On a small number of FreeSync monitors you can only use the highest refresh rate with FreeSync for some reason - fortunately not a story for most but there are some that only run at 60Hz without FreeSync or can do 75Hz with.

The ideal situation would be to have high enough framerate that FastSync can operate properly - unfortunately don't think you can use FastSync + Adaptive V-Sync at the same time though not 100% on that might be possible via nVidia Inspector.

My monitor is 70hz (the newer one does 75) and the only way I can get 70hz is with DP. If I go HDMI with it on Nvidia I have all sorts of issues. I need to run it at 59hz, but the setting will not "stick" and it keeps going back to 60. Which causes a black screen. Apparently this is common with HDMI @ 1440p on Nvidia. I have had no issues running it at the full 70hz on DP with my Titan XP, and with Vsync disabled in game Adaptive Vsync really does the trick. As I said, it's better that a kick up the jacksie and works very well with a card as powerful as this. Obviously the more you stay away from those low frames the better.

If you have 100hz+ monitor with Freesync/Gsync, believe me, anything bellow 90 without Freesync/Gsync looks terrible, if you got used to the adaptive sync technology.

Actually I got Acer X34A and still prefer running games on my 4K oled TV (apart from fast fps shooters) at locked 60fps due to the contrast and black levels.

Only if you have a freesync option in the menus on the monitor. If not your good to go.

Other monitors that have the option must be disabled otherwise your pc may not even boot to windows.

I have a BenQ 144hz monitor with my 1080Ti. Works flawlessly and is as smooth as freesync ever was. If we ever get 144hz, gsync, 4K and 32" I will make the switch.

Same one here. Works like a charm with my 1080ti. Didn't even change any settings.

Yep, with the 1080Ti it will work nicely because it has the grunt power to push high fps at 2560x1440 (90+). The 1080 not :/

Not sure if it is a big enough jump though.

Look at the latest DF review for Vega:

They retested the Fury X,GTX1070,GTX1080 and GTX1080TI:

Look at the Fury X,GTX1080 and GTX1080TI which have been probably all retested for the review. Now if you drop settings I am sure you could try to get 90+ FPS with a GTX1080,but the TI looks the best bet.

The only other way to probably do that is to wait for Volta,but that will be some time next year,and I am not sure how much cheaper a GTX2080 will be than a GTX1080TI.
