You know those 2 pin shaver adapters? I've got two pieces of computer equipment, a USB enclosure and my scanner which both come with 2 pin euro plugs that have to be used with adapters. I use a shaver adapter for that. The adapter says 1A fuse, 1A 250v mains only.

My question is, is it the input or the output written on the euro plugs that mustn't exceed 1A of the shaver adapter? The input of each euro plug is 0.4A and 0.8A, and the outputs are 1.25A and 2A. Is it safe to use these things with that shaver adapter?

input is 0.4A @ 240v, output being 1.25A @ 12-30v at a guess, the plug only cares about the 240v current it wont see anything on the device side of the transformer.

I can do the maths for you if ya like but theres no need.

Ok, so what you're saying is it's the input that matters, and my plugs/devices are safe in that 1A shaver adapter?

I would think its fine, you can draw about 240W before the 1A fuse would blow, so its enough for any peripherals, a PC or monitor on the other hand would potentially blow it.

P=IV

1A @ 240v = 240W

2A @ 30v = 60w

Its the power that melts wires and you need some serious current al low volts.

They dont put power ratings on fuses as it confuses some people.
