I use a Microsoft Intellipoint 3.0, the old white style, and its the best mouse ive ever had, although a mouse is the last thing you expect to break down, if I knew the evolution future mice would under go I would have bought 2million of these mice, I know they have released a new black version with right hand design but the main problem is where they place the 4th and 5th button, on the old style they are on either side of the mouse (perfect) on the new style mouse and other mice alike they have placed 4th and 5th on one side of the mouse (sucks), as a man I grew normally so my fingers and thumbs are the normal length, and there is absolutely no way I believe my thumb or anyones thumb can operate both buttons without shifting the whole position of the hand forward so the thumb can reach :) and ive used a Logitech MX518 and I cant even reach the 5th button :(

So im looking for a new mouse :D and the best thing I could find that would suit my fussy needs is a Razer Copperhead which has 7 buttons, so definetly has atleast 1 on eachside right :D

So, before I go and order this does anyone have comments on my view of mice, etc, or other recommendations for other brands of mice?

Have fun.

You'll find you're in a very small minority regarding the 4th adn 5th buttons there, nearly everyone I've talked to about it adores *** thumb types. Have you tried a froogle for anywhere that happens to maybe have some still?

I had a hard time finding the one I use atm 3 years ago, and I do love the thumb button, but if I use a single side 4th and 5th, my whole hand is over the mouse to get to the forward button and my mouse 1 and 2 fingers hang over the buttons, doesnt matter how many DPI your mouse is or how slick when your putting so much weight on it.

[EDIT]

Nice to see you again Zefan btw, I got my overclock to 2.5GHz, I tried everything to get higher apart from more volts, which I didnt wanna do on stock cooler with no way to measure temp, Speedfan 4.32 wasnt out yet. Though you might wanna know after the help yiou gave me :p

I've had the Copperhead,mx518,intellimouse, intellimouse new version, and now the mx revolution - i would say the mouse i felt most comfortable with is the original intellimouse but that's probably because i used it for around 5 years.

I think the Copperhead could have been great but the drivers at the time didnt work so well so it was a bit of a pain with not being detected at startup etc and upgrading firmware was hit and miss.

When i first started using the mx518 i thought i would never get used to it but after a while i found it to be a really good mouse that felt great in the hand and the buttons are all in the right places and on an impulse buy the other day i got a logitech dinovo edge keyboard and a mx revolution mouse and sold my mx518 though i really wish i didnt ...the keyboard is great and all but i find the mouse isn't a patch on the mx518 with the dpi switching, responsiveness and general feel of it .

Since you Have tried the mx518 and it isn't a good fit for your hand i would say the Copperhead may be the best for you if you dont mind the bother of the firmware upgrading probs (dunno if this is sorted yet).

mine does that :/
gotta pull out the USB and stick it back in again - so annoying.
Love the actual mouse tho.

you're not the only fussy one about mice: i use the old white intellimouse optical, cant get used to the standard wireless optical or the dell premium mouse i use at work.

i much prefer the weight/feel of the intellimouse optical. :)

I did a Google image search on the Copperhead, and it looks fantastic, the front button looks as far foward as our Intelli mouse and the other button is behind it! my birthday is coming up in 9 days and im always pestered by my family about what I want :p and since the PS3 is turning to sh!* ill get a Copperhead, and the Tarantula keyboard looks real nice aswell :o

looks nice, but cant justify that much on a mouse that isnt bluetooth or fancy like that. my next mouse will be *gasp* a black intellimouse optical which should be the same as i got so it matches the rest of my black pc. :)

for my needs the intellimouse optical is the perfect weight/feel for a mouse.
