How is Family Guy ever topical except in the obligatory jokes about crap American TV shows, celebrities' noses/panties/eating habits and the bi-annual 911 joke?

Found the film to be average at best. I wasn't taken by the premise and thus it dragged on a bit for me. The ending was also pretty poor. It didn't build to anything and didn't give me a reason to want to continue watching it. Not terribly written - just missing a beginning and an end.
