Future car, something fast...ish?

Ok i'm in dream mode at the moment but everyones got to have things to look forward to! I probably wont be buying for another 4ish months so indulge me

im on the verge of getting an ok job and seen as I will probably be living at home for the next 2 years im gonna have a little bit of expendable to spend on a nicer car.

I want something quick, but not so quick that I'll kill myself (am 22 with 4 years driving experience) or have to pay silly insurance on. Also,safety and reliability are a must.

Don't care about practicality. It will mostly just be me driving to work and back and taking a few peeps out every now and then.

Budget will be £3,500 or so. At the moment i'm falling in love with Audi A3 1.8 Turbo's around the 2000/2001 reg mark.

A good choice? Any other cars you could recommend that could fit the bill?

Personally, I'd spend the extra money you'll be earning on moving out - I got a big promotion 18 months ago and moved into my flat just over a year ago, best decision I've made recently

Obviously i have thought about this. But renting somewhere doesnt seem right for me at the moment. I'm the only other person in my house besides my parents and they keep themselves to themselves. Can spend a bit of time saving aswell

well, i have seen plenty of A3 1.8 T's going for £3500 ish with 80,000 miles. would have to be careful when buying obviosuly.

Yes but they won't be 100% ultra reliable, they are getting old, things will break, and at £3.5k they've already been thrashed by 900 previous owners.

Shame because if you had a decent deposit saved, now's a great time to be buying.

Anyway, get the Clio - perfect for a first fast car I reckon

Alternatively, I wouldnt be suprised to see a £3500 ST220 in a few months time
