Future iMac

Prompted by the earlier discussion about hoe the new Mac Pros will look, I remembered this render that is n excellent concept for a future iMac.

It is gorgeous but how much of that is a figment of the graphic artist's imagination? Can they really make transparent LCD screens? I haven't seen any lately.

The renders are certainly impressive, but the concept at hand is both ugly and impractical. The stand, especially, looks overcomplicated, wouldn't allow for much adjustment and wouldn't be able to support the weight of the screen in the first place.

You're not the only one, this chap is also talking some sense:

Is it me or would that screen be annoying.. I mean, come on, you can see the rear of the screen!

I suspect if thhey did do anything like that that they would make it so the display would be bright enough also probably glossy, to elminated this factor

If they ever did it, I'd expect a second sheet of electronic polarising glass behind the main screen.. so when it's off it's see thru.. when it's on it's not.. and when you want to impress your mates you fade it in and out from system preferences

Exactly what I was going to say! Keep keyboards straight, Apple have already proved with their keyboards that they look good and are fully functional.

Clearly and personally i think it's a great concept, though a few of the details (eg. the keyboard) could have been thought out a little better.

it's a ridiculous design, and it wouldn't really work. but, that's kinda the point of concept designs... to push the boundries.
