Well. I'll be receiving my "goodies" on Monday which includes the following:
Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
With a C2D e6300. (x7 multiple)
Now. I was just thinking about the overclocking capabilities I can expect. I know I've not got the best case in the world for cooling but it stands it's ground most the time as currently I have a crappy AsRock DUAL-VSTA with stock cooling, standard 1gb 667MHz DDR2. Yet I still get a respectable 300FSB out of it (2.1GHz).
I was hoping to at least get a 2.8GHz overclock with my upgrade. In effect the FSB will be set to 400 (400x7=2.8GHz). And the memory, I'm not to sure about. This is what I've worked out thus far.
400/5 x 6 = 480MHz = 960MHz effective.
Obviously I'll have to run the divider at 5:6. Does this sound reasonable or do I run it at a lower divider. This is the first time I would have overclocked memory aswell, as I've never had to change the divider.
