Last year I bought a Sesonic gold 750w PSU. This is a great PSU but is a little short of power for multi gpu use. In theory its enough but i kept on getting crashes at moments of stress).

In my most recent builds (from 2009) I have always regretted not buying a future proof PSU.

Can someone suggest a great PSU that might be over the top now but when I look back in 4 years I wont think "i should have got an extra 100W". I have a budget of £175 for it.

All help greatly appreciated.

I was looking at that beast myself.

Do these big PSU always pull the max power rating or do they only pull what they need? Thinking of the electric bill which is slightly nerdy

Please don't take this as gospel, but my philosophy has always been to have a good PSU, reviewed as providing a very clean supply with great reliability and efficiency with a minimum of 30% more wattage than I will need.

Of course a kilowatt PSU for an i3 system using integrated graphics is overkill, but as long as idle inches into the 10%+ bracket, you will be seeing decent efficiency and not stressing the one part of your computer that has the capacity to go pop and take everything down with it...
