Change the CPU to E6600.

Motherboard change to the eVGA 680i.

Not sure if the 36GB is enough, might want to consider 74GB.

Get a Core 2 Duo system. Much, much faster than AM2.

Check the other specs, or wait for somebody to do you one. What's the budget?

What about?

(Sckt775)Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6700 CPU @ 2.66GHz 1066FSB 2x2MB L2 Cache EM64T

Asus P5N-SLI nForce 570 SLI Chipset LGA775 Supports Core 2 Duo CPU FSB1066 DDR2/800 Mainboard w/GbLAN,USB2.0,IEEE1394&7.1Audio

Get a mobo with the Nvidia 680i chipset and an E6600. The rest is up to you, but the 8800 is very nice, good mem. Some say raptors are overkill, others can't do without them, again up to you. Also, need a good cooler, something like a tuniq tower. How are you for PSU and case?

How about something like this?

Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
Leadtek GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Western Digital Raptor 74GB WD740ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
EVGA nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
CellShock 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit

Sub Total : £1,085.93
Shipping : £9.95
Vat : £191.78
Total : £1,287.66

After that, just choose the cooler you want (as said about the Tuniq) and Case etc.

Any better?

No. I'd suggest a beefier PSU. The suggested 620W Corsair is a good one.

Thanks for the replies just one thing do most of you think Intels Dual Core E6600 is better than AMD's 64 X2 5000+ Dual-Core CPU? for gaming?
