Fuzzy Fonts/Display?

Hi,

I'm running a Samsung B2430H with a Radeon HD 5850 on Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

The fonts and display appear fuzzy, or rather not sharp. It is set to the Windows recommended settings: -

1920 x 1080 - 50 Hertz - True Color (32 bit)

I'm using a HDMI cable.

Has anyone got any ideas on how I can get the display sharper?

Thanks & Regards

I had no problems with the B2430H @ 60Hz over a DVI cable. You can adjust the sharpness using the OSD if it's just a mild problem. If it's more severe then it may have something to do with the 50Hz? It should be set to 60Hz at the native resolution. Also make sure the image size is set to "Screen Fit" in the size and position menu.

Edit: The sharpness controls may be blocked over HDMI. Do you have a spare DVI cable you could use? There's no reason to use HDMI for a PC connection on that monitor - not sure why it wouldn't work normally though.

Thanks for the replies.

I haven't got a DVI cable, only went out and got the HDMI as there wasn't one supplied.

I've tried it at 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz but that seems to make it worse?!

I'm not sure what else to try, I've updated the GPU drivers, but no change. Is there any Samsung software that I need to install?

Cheers

I suppose this could be worth a shot - go to device manager and uninstall the monitor then install the drivers supplied on the CD.

No need.... just made a mad dash and got a DVI, and Hey Presto.... nice and clear display

Thanks for all your replies.

Yeah. Sometimes it's not even worth the effort and hassle. I would've done the same I reckon. ;)

I had similar results when I connected my HDMI cable to the monitor and CCC refused to even go over 1650x1080 resolution, although the picture is perfect with Analogue. Currently waiting on a replacement HDMI cable.
