Fuzzy monitor when i plug laptop battery in...how do i fix?

When my mate plugs in his laptop into the mains, his external monitor goes all fuzzy?

How do you fix this? Can it be fixed?

As in fuzzy text or fuzzy in general. Could be font smoothing or something.

Fuzzy in general....i think it may have something to do with interference?

When the laptop is running on battery its fine, its just when the mains is plugged in.

Is is a genuine power adapter or an after market type.

if its an after market then you could be right about interference as they aren't built to the highest of standards especially when it comes to shielding

I have the same problem on my Vaio (with genuine power adapter). Get horizontal banding on my external monitor when it's plugged into mains. Don't think there's a way to fix it - I've put it down to some component of the external output not being shielded properly.
