Hi,
I have a old Toshiba 4090CDS Laptop.. I am having problems with a severe band of random pixels near the bottom of the screen.

It was fine when it was used in windows but I need Linux on it. Any suggestions?

Heres my XOrg.conf: http://richieward.com/xorg.conf

PLEASE HELP!

Edit: Running the latest Ubuntu (6.06) with all updates installed.

Seems to be a known, but fixable, issue (clicky). You seem to have already tried the suggested fix though (set defaultdepth to 16 - although deleting/commenting out the section with defaultdepth 24 might help? You could also probaly get away with 1024x768 in there too :)).

Your Horiz and Vert Refresh settings seem a bit weird, try:

HorizSync 31.5-53.7
VertRefresh 60

Also there seems to be an entry in the wiki that suggests dropping the bit depth to 16 bit from 24 bit is required.
