Am I getting ripped off for paying £170 for an FW900 in very good condition? I've yet to confirm the sale, so I'm interested to hear what people think.

Well it will look 10x better than an LCD costing the same amount so yeah go for it.
No matter what people think of you... You will have my utmost respect if you go for this monitor. 
I am still using a similar (but if anything not quite as good) CRT from Mitsubishi on one of my systems and the image it produces is the envy of anything else at that price. It won't be perfect I will tell you that now and there are some ways in which LCDs are superior even at that price - but contrast, colours and viewing angles aren't amongst them. Plus you will get really good resolutions and pretty decent refresh rates.

Haha, thanks. I can't seem to find an LCD which ticks all the boxes for me. On the one hand, I want to get the U2410 because of the IQ. On the other, I want the BenQ XL24T because of the 120hz (I like my FPS games ) But with the FW900, it looks like I'd get the best of both worlds. As I'm selling my current TN monitor for around the same price I'm getting the Sony for, it seems like a fair swap.

Thanks for the link. But I may have to back out of this purchase now. I didn't even consider the size of the thing. The width is fine, but the depth is over half a metre! I'll need a new desk for sure.
Maybe I best stick to an LCD for the sake of logistics. At the moment, I'm prepared to shell out the extra cash for a U2410, though I still want to see a review for the XL2410T.

....and they're not exactly light either!
When I had one, I used to stand it on a piece of perspex so I could slide it (with a bit of effort) around the desk rather than having to lift it
