Hi everyone
I've have a FX4350 quadcore CPU and number1 cor
constantly drops to 0mhz on my hwinfo monitoring program. It does it
While idling even, any ideas?
Running stock clock and voltage etc the turbo and economy options
In bios make no difference. NB clock drops from 2000mhz to zero in a
Similar fashion.

It seems something is throttling. So, check your cooler and make sure it's making full contact with the CPU.

If it is and everything is fitted correctly it could be a duff CPU.

Try using different monitoring software.

Sounds to me like hwinfo is reporting wrong.

If it was throttling it would be dropping to 800mhz as that's the lowest P-State on them

I would definitely re seat the cooler with fresh paste and retry. And as suggested above use and overdrive to check temps then run a stress test again. I use asus realbench 2.0 for stress testing.

I would say that given how the Bulldozer/Piledriver microarchitecture works, it is unlikely to be an issue with chip contact, because I would expect one full module, and therefore two of the four cores, to be having issues.

Throttling wouldn't see a core stop completely, i.e sit at 0MHz, either. It would merely run at a lower speed. Possibly 800MHz as mentioned above.

Try different monitoring software and see what the core is up to, it is possible that HW-Monitor is just being useless. You could even just look at the Windows performance monitor. (ctrl+alt+del - task manager - performance)
