Uhh...a google and a forum search suggest there's no such thing as an FX-47. How come I've got one then? :o Is this just some kind of CPU-Z bug? The processor is a 3800+ single core AM2 @ stock. It seems to have the right specification but the wrong name and picture.

Basically just odd, but it would be awesome if I've accidently received some kind of top secret cpu. :p

I stand thoroughly corrected! ;)

Not sure how I got hold of such an old version, but the new one shows it up as a normal 3800+ AM2, orleans core. Still, would have been more fun if it was an FX-47. :p

'The FX47. When you absolutely positively have to kill every motherclucker in a room... accept no substitute'

AMD go a little OTT in responce to Conroe..

ROFL!!! XD

that's the best play on words i've heard all year!
although if AMD was to make such a core they'd have to make them in cuba and have the archetecture devloped by a russian

but i'd have left my computer running the old version of CPU-Z just to have a cool name on my CPU

I've still got the old version actually, might come in handy someday. ;) And yep, as turbotoaster said it's just single core. Dual core prices are very nice, only £25 more to go from single 3800+ to the X2 3800+, but I wanted to get the comp as cheap as possible, and it's only for gaming rather than multi-tasking so I wouldn't really have seen the benefits.

And there was me thinking I was just being a silly newbie - I thought my CPU looked more like a jet fighter and less like a socket-AM2 compatible piece of silicon. :D

How would I go about overclocking it, stick some nitro into the fuel tanks?

i'm not sure, ask yuri over there *points at a russian which happens to hold some nitro, and err an athlon?*
*takes a look at the pic oncemore and notes the belgian flag* doh!
