Hello. Suppose I am running a 3700+ cpu (unsure what the core is), out of the box it is 2.2 gig with 1 meg level 2 cache. I can run that now at 2.6 gig so does that mean it is as quick as an FX 55?

Fantastic. I bought a new 7950GT and bought one of these 3700+ and am pleased with it. Previously I had a 3800+ that wouldn't clock. Got the upgrade ready to play S.t.a.l.k.e.r on Friday.

Sadly from what i reading stalker will bring it to its knees, people on 8800gtx's are finding its seriously pushing there hardware and someone i know is on a heavy clocked c2d too and it gets abit choppy at times he said with full eye candy on.

There was a preview in this months custompc. Seems to be a huge resource munching monster that doesn't use more than 1 core..
only uses 1 core? for a game that demanding i would expect it to have multi-core support

I play it at 1280x1024. Most things turned up high and suffer no choppyness whatsoever. Win XP sp2, 2 gig ram, 3700+ @ 2.6, BFG 7950GT 512 600/800.

re: STALKER and multi-core CPUs

The developers claim multi-core support but the preview showed a only a 1 fps difference (with a CPU limited resolution). I hope this is just a problem with early (preview) release code and that the final release will be better.. but I fear that multi CPU support needs to be built in to the code and not a late stage add-on
