FX-57 or Conroe

Conroe, I have one and its amazing. Check out Tomshardware.co.uk benchmarks and your will see even the lesser conroes outperform the FX-57

C2D. There's absolutely no two ways about it. C2D is dual core, FX-57 is single core. C2D is cheap, FX-57 is (more) expensive. Both can overclock but C2D, especially the E6300, can easily reach 150% overclocks on air.

Yup Conroe all the way...not that the FX-57 is a bad processor..it's just that it's single core and basically a generation behind.

The Core duo chips are the best clocking chips ive ever used, not to mention there basically the best chip at stock levels... go own one now ! ;)

I am happy with my FX57 does what i want it to , not changing until DX10 cards and vista are out , trouble is you have all the CPU power and do we use it ? , pc games are not that scratch at the moment , i do find people on this forum are anti FX57 for some reason or is just the price

Depends what you play. I had a 3700+ oc'd past FX-57 speeds and during massive Quake 4 CTF fights my puter would skip....after getting a 4400x2 and overclocking it and checking the multicore option in Q4 it runs VERY smoothly

Conroe....No contest.
I have had both an Opteron 146 at 3ghz and a dual core 170 at 2.9ghz.
My e6400 was way faster than both of them at everything i threw at it and it overclocks to 3.5ghz easy......Today i swapped in an e6600 and again, straight in at 3.5ghz....and still going to push for more later :D
All cpu's were aircooled with a Big Typhoon and PanaFlo fan.
