FX-60 Multiplier unavailable

Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help here. For some strange reason my multiplier option is not highlighted in my bios and I can neither increase or decrease it?
The motherboard came with the latest bios pre-installed and the only other one available from Asus is a beta. I was looking forward to squeezing some performance from my chip to cope with Crysis and now I am stumped?

Anyone got any ideas as they would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Lee

Have you set CPU frequency, or whatever else it may be called, to manual?

That's just it, the FID/VID option is displayed but is 'greyed out' as though the option is not available? I am really dissappointed as the processor is definately an FX-60. I must be missing something? I have just updated to the latest beta bios in hope that would solve the issue. But still its a no-go?

Any other ideas?

Thanks again

Are they not greyed out because the cpu settings are all at auto? Failing that and the latest bios I dunno what the problem would be.

The option states this exactly:

FID/VID Change [Auto] -'auto is by default by the way'

The options stated below only then become available if the above option is adjusted to [Manual]

Processor frequency multiplier [8x] - 'I cannot see this figure but it is default according to manual' 6x 6.5x 7x 7.5x 8x 8.5x 9x 9.5x 10x

Processor Voltage [1.425V]
[1.000 V] ~ [1.5625 V] - 'Again I cannot see these figures because the FID/VID option cannot be switched over to [manual]' this is information from instructions.

My multiplier by default on this processor is 13x. Could it be that there is some incompatability beacuse it is out of range of the stated values, or am I missing something completely?

Thanks again.

Is the CPU detected at correct clock speeds at the moment with it all at default settings?
If you can't see the options to change multi when you set it to manual I don't have a clue, I'd google around but work probably wont take too kindly... :D
Maybe turning off stuff like cool'n'quiet etc will yield some highlighted options.

Hope you get it sorted!

CPU is detected at the correct clock speeds as is the multiplier on the information page about the processor. I will try that cool & quiet disable option thought thanks. Strange thing is that on this information page it actually states that the maximum multplier setting of this chip is 25x and the current is 13x. What are the chances of AMD releasing high end processors without unlocked multipliers?

I was overclocking a mates PC only 2 days ago with the same motherboard as you. There was another option you have to set to manual i think. To be honest i think it was as simple as changing overclocking from AUTO to MANUAL to make the other settings accessible. He has an x2 chip though. Even if your multi was locked, and i'm sure all FX are unlocked, then you would still be able to reduce down from x13.

Above poster is right, I have the same board, just switch the overclocking to manual from auto. It's in the jumper free settings page I think, the top option.

I was there a few minutes ago but memory like a seive.

EDIT
Also keep an eye on the Vcore if you plan to overclock that. You have to switch on overvoltage Vcore then reduce the base voltage to get what you want.

IE Mine is 1.30 default, Overvolt puts it at 1.50 I think, so if I wanted 1.45 I would need to set the Vcore manualy to 1.25 and switch on the overvolt Vcore option.

FX-60 Multiplier now enabled :)

Turns out the cool n quiet function is the culprit. Now my multiplier and Vcore options are available after disabling it. Thanks for the info guys much appreciated.
