How does this revision perform in comparison to the FX-6100? Is it a case of the same CPU but with different stock clocks? Is there an acceptable performance increase over the latter?
Also, what's the Windows Experience Index score? I grasp that the WEI is a poor benchmark tool, but I'm curious nonetheless.
Before anyone suggests an Intel processor, I have an available AM3+ compatible motherboard.

Many thanks.

The descriptions are identical except clock speed, I imagine that's all that is different.

If you're buying from here, you get a free game with a 6100 so I'd get that:

Not sure on the WEI score sorry.

The FX-6100 performs like a Phenom X4 and the FX-81x0 performs like a Phenom X6, both may be slightly better or worse than the corresponding Phenom depending on what application is being run.

Whether FX-8 is much better than FX-6 very much depends on if you're running applications that will make use of the additional two cores, most applications don't even tax 4 cores let alone 6 or 8.

FX-6200 has much higher clockspeed than FX-6100 so it should perform better in Bulldozer's weakest area which is single threaded performance, although saying that they both have the same turbo clockspeed so that might not be the case either.

+1 for above, finding out that Bulldozer gives either really solid performance, or really not solid performance depending on application. but yeah the 6200 is essentially a 6100 with a higher frequency, perhaps since they are more recent they could turn out to be better clockers, cooler running or such through some minor process tweaks but wouldn't hold your breath.
