Hi there

How much would a FX 6300 bottleneck a 970 at 1080dpi As my budget is tight I am thinking of getting a better GPU as oppsed to a better CPU like the Intel i7 4790K with a slower GPU combination.

Thanks

It will be fine mate. The higher the resolution the less call on the CPU any way.

The magic number with any FX CPU is 4.5ghz or above. That should easily be possible..

What motherboard were you thinking?

I think I looked into this board a few days ago (my browser history says I did anyway).

And I think I ruled it out because it has "hybrid efi " bios, not a proper UEFI bios, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with windows 8 secure boot (I could be wrong, I looked at a few models).

Anyway I ended up getting the 970A-UD3P

Slightly cheaper, does the job, has proper UEFI bios and supports secure boot.

It's going in a tight budget AMD based gaming rig for a customer :)

Also <------- First post :O. Surely I didn't register in 2013 and never post?!

You sacrificed phases.

I would always try and go for 8 phases on AMD as it leaves room for bigger overclocks, rather than a fancy bios.
